Monaqui Porter-Young

MonaquiMonaqui Porter-Young is a creative entrepreneur who is involved in various ventures, which takes her around the world.  She has nine years of experience as a working actress, playwright, and producer of television, film and theater.  Monaqui wrote, produced, and performed her one-woman play, Hope, off Broadway, nationally at college campuses, and internationally.  She has worked on several films including the HBO original movie Rebound.

As President and CEO of MPGlobal Connect Inc., Monaqui successfully launched this start-up company and continues to move the company forward with her vision.   MPGlobal Connect Inc., is an import distribution company that offers organic green tea, nutritional health and educational information.  Monaqui is also launching her unique brand of high quality organic green tea Srina.

Monaqui received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio.  She studied International Trade Management at Pace University’s School of International Trade and Commerce, specializing in import rules and regulations.  Monaqui recently graduated from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, becoming a certified Holistic Health Practitioner specializing in digestive disorders and primary foods.  She also received certification in Integrative Nutrition at Teachers College Columbia University.

Monaqui has presented interactive workshops, guest lectures, and keynote speeches at universities, small business associations and organizations throughout the United States and abroad.  Most recently, she was a guest speaker for the United Nations International Women’s Day in Bangkok, Thailand, where she spoke on commonalities of women (strengthening international relationships among women through commonalities).

She currently serves as an advisory board member for TARA (Today’s Already Rising Achievers) and a junior committee member for the non-profit organization Plays for Living.

Monaqui lives in Westchester NY with her husband Marlo and two kids Morgan and Maywin.

Fun Fact: Monaqui danced to “I will Survive” in the Amazon Rainforest in Brazil to encourage the rainforest to “Survive” in the midst of global warming.

 

Dr. Pilapitiya

Dr.PilapitiyaDr. Upali Pilapitiya is one of Sri Lanka’s pre-eminent practitioners of Ayurveda, and has been an advisor to the World Health Organization and the Asian Development Bank on Alternative Medicine.  He held positions such as Director of the Institute of Indigenous Medicine affiliated to the University of Colombo.  He also served a long stint as the Director of the Bandaranaike Memorial Ayurvedic Research Institute.

Having obtained his Masters degree and his PhD in India, he devoted most of his time for research into other forms of Alternative Medicine practiced in countries as such as China, Korea, Japan, India, and Yugoslavia.

On a research fellowship granted by the Peoples Republic of China, he studied the ancient Chinese system of Medicine-Acupuncture, which is practiced today in most countries of the world.  Dr. Pilapitiya has received many national awards for excellence in scientific research.

Dr. Pilapitiya is the Supervisor and Director of Pilapitiya Ayurveda Health Resort.  The resort is a unique health care center located in a picturesque setting approximately 12 miles south of Colombo.  The Pilapitiya Ayurveda Health Resort has inpatient facilities with all modern amenities.  All patients receive the individual attention of Dr. Pilapitiya who enjoys a wide recognition both in Sri Lanka and abroad.
